No Thanks

Gili 15, Nadine 23, Aaron 25, Chaya Bluma 36, Yael 42

First play for CB, first or second for Yael who needed a refresher. CB didn’t like it.

Amun-Re

Nadine 45, Aaron 40, Gili 30

First play for Aaron, who wasn’t impressed. Nadine says that he got the game quickly enough.

Tigris and Euphrates

Haim 9/9/10/10, Jon 9/9/9/9, Chaya Bluma 8/8/10/10, Yael 7/7/9/11

First plays for everyone except me. This was a very close game, which means that they all did VERY well, and the fact that I didn’t win was all the more impressive, since this is sometimes a hard game to pick up since a few of the core rules are non-intuitive and kingdoms can sprawl across the board and the graphics do not do a good enough job of making their borders easy to identify.

CB didn’t initiate any conflicts, but she created 3 of the 5 monuments that eventually came into play. No one held onto any major moments for a long time, but everyone gained a nice collection of cubes every few rounds. The last five treasures sat for a while, and I thought we might end on tiles, but after noticing this, we made a push to collect them.

Yael had some bad luck attacking me early on. I couldn’t draw a red tile to save me, but luckily I never got involved in an internal conflict after the game opening.

Everyone liked it.

Progressive Rummy

Viviane and Mira played this with each other while we finished up the main games.

Coloretto

Viviane 35, Mira 29, Nadine 27, Aaron 18

First plays for Vivi and Mira. As often happens, they forgot to give out the starting card on the practice game, but remembered for the second game.

Crokinole

Mira 130, Jon 105, Nadine 100, Viviane 100

Some others played a few rounds when game night started. This game was played at the end. In the penultimate round, Nadine and Mira were tied for first place at 100, so we played one more round. First plays for Vivi and Mira, so well done.
